Mark Fossen is an acoustic guitar-wielding storyteller whose soulful-yet-delicate vocal melodies, earnest lyrics, and playful stage banter will leave you confused as to whether you should laugh, cry, or quit your day job.
He currently resides on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the Syilx/Okanagan people (although depending on who you ask, he could also be from Ottawa, or rural Nova Scotia. Nobody seems to know for sure). Years of musical meandering have brought Fossen and his songs to major festival stages, cozy clubs, small town living rooms, and busy city sidewalks all across the land now known as Canada.
With lyrics that catch breath and reflect on the lives we all live and share, Fossen’s music takes an introspective deep dive into a wide array of subject matter — love, loss, mental illness, self-discovery — beneath a vocal tone reminiscent of Joshua Radin, Damien Rice, and Ray Lamontagne.
He is presently writing, recording, and releasing new music out of his home studio nestled in the foothills of the Monashee mountains.
